How does the Twitter Video Downloader work?
It reads the tweet through X's public syndication endpoint — the same unauthenticated data source X's own embed widget uses to render an embedded tweet — and returns a direct link to the tweet's attached video, one tweet at a time.
Why doesn't it work on some tweets?
It only works on public tweets that contain a video or GIF. Private accounts and photo-only tweets aren't supported.
Can I download GIFs too?
Yes. GIFs on X are actually looping MP4 files under the hood, so they download as an MP4 you can save or convert.
Is it okay to reuse a video I download here?
Downloading is not the same as owning the rights to redistribute. Saving a public video for your own viewing, backup, or research is fine — if you want to repost or reuse someone else's footage publicly, credit the original poster and get their permission first, the same as with any other copyrighted media.
