The approach
Consistent, honest self-reflection needs structure and privacy most journaling apps do not offer, and almost none are built around this specific practice. The apps that exist are habit trackers with a bismillah added, or generic AI journaling with no grounding in the tradition.
Design & Structure
The whole app is one nightly loop rather than a feed. After Isha you write or speak about your day; voice is transcribed and never stored as audio. The reply has five parts — an acknowledgment of what you shared, a relevant Quranic ayah, an insight into the day, one concrete action for tomorrow, and a closing dhikr or dua.
Development
Built in Swift and SwiftUI, with Whisper for transcription and a Supabase edge function brokering the guidance model so no reflection text is retained downstream. Virtue patterns — sabr, shukr, tawbah, tawakkul — are derived over time and surfaced as a private record of an inner state, not a public streak.
Delivery
Privacy is a product decision, not a policy page: reflections are encrypted, never used to train any model, and exportable or erasable in one tap. The companion site at muhasaba.me carries the writing on the practice; the App Store listing carries the app.
